According to IPTV Global Forecast (2008-2013), global IPTV subscribers are going to increase from 28 million to 83 million from the year 2009 to 2013. The countries of Europe and Asia will have maximum number4s of subscribers. In case of service revenues, the lead will be maintained by North America and Europe through the provision of very low average revenue per user (that is ARPU) and will lead into the states of  China and India. These states will grow as the fastest and biggest markets in entire Asia. The global IPTV market is going to have revenues growth from US$12 billion to US$38 billion in the year 2013.  Application of DTH services and internet communications are the core tools for attaining developmental strategic plans for IP TV with on-demand content. Since IP TV with on-demand content can offer endless viewing options to the consumer, it has attained long term sustainability in the history of TV watching. There is a radical shift from being linear to On-demand structure of broadcasting and this is adding the vibrant modes of attaining entertainment among people. Technological Support and through satellite interventions the entire Scenario of TV landscape is taking more fruitful shape.

With the increasing demands of technologically upgrade digital TV and HDTV, the consumers are attaining wide ranged variety of choices in watching TV. There is a tremendous change in the process of managing with the business of IP TV with on-demand content. The importance of this research lies in understanding the proceedings through which an investor can attain the best possible mode of profit through the business of IP TV with on-demand content. The chief concern is related to the modes of accepting the demands of people in following the option of digital TV and HDTV. Issues related to commercialisation and engaging people with selective program preferences will be adopted on clear grounds. To modes of earning big money through some strategic planning will be analysed for a better business format.

This research will serve personal development objectives; my career development objectives; and my organisation’s objectives in attaining multifaceted developmental business structure. On personal ground it will offer me with a proper understanding of the competitive edge created by IP TV with on-demand content through digital TV and HDTV. Understanding of this competitive scenario will offer grounds to manage with some very effective developmental strategies in dealing with the business of TV and broadcasting. As the research will investigate into the basic characteristic features of managing with the commercial and entertainment forte of TV, this research will open doors for generating more profit oriented business structure. These approaches will offer my career and my organisation with the necessary hype to attaining sustainability in the competitive market of broadcasting. The research will offer some elemental and critical ways of establishing TV business, through an analytical perspective of dealing with IP TV with on-demand content, digital TV and HDTV in the best proportionate way. This approach will offer the University with a unique dissertation in this field and will further demand for an upgrade form of research in the future.  

Literature Review

The research has been initiated through some exclusive readings of literatures published in books, online sources, journals and various other modes of communications. Reading of ‘IMAKE expand’ (2009) is a predominant source for understanding the levels of competitions in the adoption of systems to support the commercial categories of IP TV with on-demand content. The modes of developments related to digital TV in entire Europe have been investigated well to understand the basic business strategies and the modes of attaining sustainability by IP TV with on-demand content (Meyer, et al 2009). The readings of articles by McQuivey (2008) and Tulsiani (2009) are the sources for dealing with issues related to elements and the programs that are designed as per the consumer preferences. These literatures were investigatory grounds for looking into the perspectives of consumer behavior and the related modes of preferences.

The articles like ‘The Mobile Broadcast TV Value Chain’ were supportive enough in gathering information about the communicative modes and technological supports that have revolutionized the IP TV with on-demand content. Proceedings related to mobiles have been well explored. The technological basics were investigated through a primary reading of Dietmeyer Et-Al, Donald L. (n.d). This has been followed by the futuristic progression of this field by Turner and Tay (Edt., 2009) these approaches were more authenticated in the field of offering sustainable strategic planning in adopting management infrastructure.  Publications led by BBC are considered for collecting information about the latest trends and revolutions in this perspective, further readings of Goss (2009) about the causes for these shifts and the context of popularity has been explored with more effective speculations. In the process of following the literatures, it has been specifically emphasized over the latest readings and latest marketing responses of the consumer. The approach has been specifically initiated to offer an upgrade research over the concerned topic.

Research Question

The research is a practical approach in understanding the derivative consequences of IP TV with on-demand content as a part of developmental structure of achieving broadcasting preferences. The roles of advertising strategies and marketing options are very much integral to the study process. The research has been initiated on the basis of following questions:

  • What is the current value chain of IP TV with on-demand content?
  • What are the basic features for the attainment of progression of IP TV with on-demand content in TV industry?
  • How can one identify the competitive modes faced within the ranges of IP TV with on-demand content?
  • What is the role of advertisements and commercialised persuasion of programs in the development of profit margins in this business?

Research Design

The research design will follow quantitative research methodology. Under this proceeding relevant modes of interviews and questionnaire distributions proceedings will be initiated. There will be two modes of collecting data. The first will be initiated through distribution of questionnaires among selected samples of consumers from different age groups. This will further get followed by some exclusive interviews from some professionals from relevant fields.

The data collected from the questionnaires will be based on the speculative aspects of understanding consumer demands and their preferences regarding the technological assistances offered in the field of TV watching. F added by this mode there will be the provision for interviews too. From the relevant field of TV marketing and technology survey providers; 5 to 7 people will be selected for exclusive interviews related to the stand point of role of IP TV with on-demand content in present consumer market. These interviews will also be the base for understanding consumer demands and the modes to supply the same.

The findings will be based on the collected data from the questionnaires and the interviews. The collected data will be analysed as per chi-square analysis and the status of the hypothesis will be analysed thereby. Every proceeding will be done from practical field of analysis and thus the entire data collecting mode will based on statistical derivations. There will be an expected hypothesis and through chi-square this hypothesis will be investigate to get the current mode of understanding the status of IP TV with on-demand content and the related concerns for its developments. Latest investigatory bases will be the basics for understanding the current trends and assessments related to the IP TV with on-demand content among the small selected sample in a particular region.
